Staffordshire/UK: Drayton Manor Theme Park Draws Crowds with High Ropes Course
The British Drayton Manor Theme Park recently opened its new high ropes course, which consists of a Sky Trail® parcours for adults and a Sky Tykes® trail for younger climbing fans.
The double level Sky Trail® is a nine pole high ropes course named “VertiGo”, which has a capacity of 45 users at any one time. On each of the two levels it features a Sky Rail® zip line, which, at 28 meters in length each, according to the manufacturer are the longest zip lines in Europe on such a structure. The participants walk their slider straight onto the zip track, while the whole process is managed by a traffic light system and a PLC controller. At the other end, the transition from zip cart to the Sky Trail® track is seamless as well. In order to cater to the whole family, the brightly coloured Sky Tykes® course, called “VertiGo Tots”, provides an introduction to ropes courses for the very youngest of visitors, with guests aged from two to seven years being able to enjoy this element of the new installation unaccompanied. Up to 20 children can use the Sky Tykes® course at the same time.
The new high ropes course is not only accessible for Drayton Manor Theme Park guests but can also be visited independently as it is located outside the main park’s area. This follows the current trend for “staycations” – short breaks – with perhaps a visit to the park one day, an overnight stay at the Drayton Manor hotel or camping site and then a family visit to the high ropes course the next morning. “We never like to rest on our laurels and are always looking at ways to improve Drayton Manor experience. ‘VertiGo’ is testament to that, as it joins many other improvements we have made to the park over the past couple of years,” said William Bryan, Managing Director at Drayton Manor.
