Sweden: New Amusement Park Planned
On the 30th of August, the leading Swedish daily newspaper, “Aftonbladet”, reported on plans for a new amusement park in Sweden. According to the report, the previous owners of Gröna Lund, the Lindgren family, intend to open a new park in 2010 in Botkyrka south of Stockholm. On the 760,000-square metre large premises, a large waterpark and a fairytale park for children are to be constructed first up. Construction of a hotel is also being discussed, as well as camping facilities. Building costs for the first section of the new park will run at 650 million Swedish crowns (equivalent to roughly 70 million euros). The park is to expand its offerings later with some thrill rides such as a roller coaster. A name has also already been chosen for the park: “Park Fantasia”. (eap)
