Switzerland: Heidi Adventure World on Lake Walen
In the holiday region of Heidiland, Switzerland is planning on opening its first-ever Heidi adventure world for young and old in July 2009. The primary goal of the project is to make the Swiss national treasure, Heidi, her “inventor” Johanna Spyri, and all of the themes surrounding Heidi more tangible in an attractive, interactive and modern manner. Initial estimates foresee up to 50,000 visitors a year. The pre-project phase is well underway and should reveal the feasibility of the plans. The ultimate decision as to whether the project will definitely be carried out or not will be made in June 2008. The “Heidi-Erlebniswelt” world of adventure has been conceived as an over 1,000-square metre large facility which is to be open year round and feature different focal points. The world of adventure and lore will be located adjacent to the Heidi musical premises in Walenstadt. (eap)
