Technik Museum Speyer / Germany: Alan Bean and Mission Apollo 12
For more than three years, Germany’s Technik Museum Speyer has been showing the space exhibition “Apollo and Beyond” on an exhibition area of 2,500 square meters. This exhibition tells the exciting story of manned space flight. The story of the American astronaut and painter Alan Bean, who made his first flight into space aboard Apollo 12 in 1969 and who was the fourth human being to walk on the moon, is also part of this exhibition. Alan Bean is one of only nine astronauts who walked the moon and who are still alive. He personally reported in a lecture about his space flights and gave insights into his paintings at Technik Museum Speyer. These paintings show Alan Bean’s personal view of the Apollo missions. Alan Bean celebrated his 80th birthday on March 15, 2012 – Happy Birthday! (eap)
