Texas/USA: Splash Fun at New Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi Waterpark
After a soft-opening phase last summer, the new Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi Waterpark in Texas has opened all its attractions for visitors this year. Part riverpark, part resort and part membership club, the fifth waterpark of Schlitterbahn in Corpus Christi offers a wide range of fun including the most extensive river system ever devised as announced by the park. It is devided into three different types of rivers, which are all interconnected. “The Torrent” wave river offers waving fun for a flume length of 274 meters (900 feet) while guests swiftly move on “The Kristal River” with a length of 229 meters (750 feet). “Blitz Falls” is filled with rapids and falls creating the feeling of tubing on a real river. The river system is surrounded by 16 beaches.
With “Shoot the Chute” the new waterpark also includes a classic flume ride, whose boats have five rows each and can hold between 10 to 15 riders. The boats carry guests to a height of 15 meters (50 feet), from where they drop at approx. 52 km/h (32 mph). The ride, the first of its kind for Schlitterbahn, is 186 meters (610 feet) long and has three separate pumps to deliver a splashy ride. For surfing fans the park features the so-called “Boggie Bahn”, which is based on the very first inland surfing ride invented at Schlitterbahn. The surfing path is six meters (20 feet) long with 50,000 gallons of water per minute shooting out to form a thin sheet to surf on. In addition to these attractions, two ten meter high blaster towers allow guests to race each other to the splash zone.
The little guests at Schlitterbahn can spend their time at “Lil Skippers” and “Buccaneer Bay” and enjoy a ship tour, slide down butterfly wings or get soaked in the mushroom fountains. (eap)
