Thailand/England: King Power Maha Nakhon Tower to Launch World’s First “ParadropVR City Flyer” Attraction

The world’s first self-controlled “ParadropVR City Flyer” attraction is set to be launched this summer at Bangkok’s King Power Maha Nakhon tower (formerly: Maha Nakhon) – a 314 meter high mixed-used building with retail stores, offices and restaurants. The attraction, which will be supplied by British provider Frontgrid, will invite guests to experience a virtual paragliding flight over the city and its surroundings.

Based on the “Paradrop VR” concept, which was developed by Frontgrid in cooperation with Simworx and launched back in 2017 (cf. EAP News from August 23rd, 2017), the new “City Flyer” version of the attraction also combines a virtual flight experience with interactive gaming elements. Participants are allocated in chairs designed as paragliders, each station featuring interactive control elements, wind and sound effects. Once the experience starts, players have to solve different tasks to collect points while enjoying a virtual flight. The attraction is available in configurations from four to over 40 seats, depending on the location’s site.

„[…] By combining bespoke VR content with a skill-based game and self-controlled physical movement, ParadropVR City Flyer gives destination-based visitor attractions an opportunity to engage guests in a completely new and exciting way. Unlike other simulators, the ParadropVR City Flyer gives riders a completely interactive and personalized experience with no two passengers taking the same route. It’s fun, it’s exhilarating, and provides the kind of premium VR experience high-end operators want to offer their guests,” explains Matt Wells, CEO and co-founder of Frontgrid. (eap)
