The Latest Six Flags Openings

(eap) The Six Flags parks Six Flags Great America in Illinois and Six Flags America in Maryland recently celebrated the opening of new attractions. While the latter opened its revamped and renamed themed area “SteamTown: Where the Past Meets the Future”, Six Flags Great America Park President John Krajnak was delighted with the new “Sky Striker” thrill attraction, a “Discovery Giga 40” swing ride from Italian manufacturer Zamperla.

“We are thrilled to introduce Sky Striker to our world-class lineup of attractions here at Six Flags Great America,” said Krajnak. “Our ongoing relationship with Zamperla has been instrumental in bringing innovative and exhilarating attractions to our guests. The addition of Sky Striker not only exemplifies the quality and excitement that Zamperla attractions are known for, but also reinforces our commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences to our guests.” Sky Striker has a capacity of 40 people per ride and transports guests at speeds of up to 110 km/h to heights of over 50 meters.

Besides the new attraction, the existing rides – the suspended coaster (Vekoma), the river rapids and the bumper cars – shine in new splendour in the revamped SteamTown themed area. Furthermore, the popular stunt show is back and there is a new quick-service dining experience and a new merchandise retail experience to discover. In the associated Six Flags water park Hurricane Harbor, a new water coaster called “RipQurl Blaster” opened at the end of May this year.

The Six Flags Group completed its merger with Cedar Fair yesterday and now operates under the name Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. Read all about the successful merger here. ■
