Tripsdrill Builds Wooden Roller Coaster

The cat has finally been let out of the bag. Tripsdrill, the adventure park rich in tradition, is planning on opening its new major attraction in 2008: the wooden roller coaster “Mammut”. The new attraction will be constructed on the two-hectare large premises, representing the single largest investment ever made in the park’s existence. Mammut will be built entirely from German pine. The trains, says park director Helmut Fischer, “will be designed like huge saws that shoot through a lumber mill, zipping by a large circular saw and on through ravines and tunnels.” The structural calculations for the 860-metre long, 30-metre high train, which is to also get some darkride sections, is being done by the globally recognised Munich-based engineering firm Werner Stengel. The new giant woody will be built by the company Holzbau Cordes and the trains will be supplied by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides. “The wood,” emphasises Helmut Fischer, “will come from German forests. After all, we also want to stay authentic and connected to the location with our materials.” (eap)
