UAE: Dubai Parks & Resorts Present Half-Year Results
In the first half of the 2018 financial year (January 1st to June 30th), the Dubai Parks and Resorts theme park complex developed by DXB Entertainments (DXBE) recorded further growth in visitor numbers. According to the official results, more than 1.4 million guests visited the associated parks in the first half of 2018, an increase of 46 percent compared to the same period last year (with over one million visitors, c.f. EAP news from August 14th, 2017).
In the second quarter of 2018, when temperatures in the Persian Gulf region rise above 35 degrees Celsius causing a decline in visitor numbers, a total of 612,000 guests was recorded (Q2 2017: 414,000 visitors) – a plus of 48 percent. Also, the related LapitaTM Hotel reached a higher average occupancy rate with some 55 percent in the first half of 2018 (average occupancy rate 2017: 24 percent).
“We are pleased to announce continued year on year growth in our visitor and hotel occupancy numbers. The first half of 2018 has delivered over 46 percent growth compared to the same period last year and our results demonstrate Dubai Parks and Resorts is on a clear growth trajectory. We remain confident in our growth potential as we progress through our first full year of operations,” said Mohamed Almulla, CEO and Managing Director, DXB Entertainments.
In the 2017 financial year Dubai Parks and Resorts has welcomed nearly 2.3 million guests (cf. EAP news from February 5th, 2018). (eap)
