UAE: Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi to Open 25th July
In the past weeks, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, which is currently under construction on Yas Island, has already revealed a few details on its related theme areas and attractions (cf. EAP news from April 9th, 2018) – now, the opening date for the new indoor theme park complex was officially announced: On July 25th, the park will welcome its first visitors. On a site of more than 15 hectares (1.65 million square feet), visitors will encounter six theme areas with a total of 29 rides and attractions as well as live entertainment, themed dining and shopping outlets. With the opening of this all-new leisure destination, the emirate of Abu Dhabi seeks to double its number of tourists over the next few years. According to the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture & Tourism, some 4.8 million guests travelled to the UAE’s capital city last year – until 2021, this number is expected to grow up to 8.5 million visitors.
“The launch of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is yet another milestone in the Emirate’s journey to further enrich its tourism offering, and help establish it as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations […],” said Mohamed Khalifa al Mubarak, Chairman of the development company Miral Asset Management. The nearby emirate of Dubai, which also offers a number of leisure attractions and which is still heavily investing in this sector, would be a complementary destination to Abu Dhabi, according to al Mubarak. Pam Lifford, President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products, is confident about the new theme park’s future success: “We have worked tirelessly with our partners at Miral to faithfully bring iconic franchises such as DC Entertainment, Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbera to life in a truly immersive and authentic environment […],” said Lifford.
