UK: Great Britain’s First ParadropVR Attraction to Open at iFLY Basingstoke
This summer, South England’s iFLY Basingstoke indoor skydiving center (opened in 2013 and one of currently 37 iFLY locations worldwide) will launch Great Britain’s first ParadropVR attraction, which was developed by Frontgrid in cooperation with Simworx (cf. EAP news from August 23rd, 2017). In a virtual world – designed as a mountainous landscape – players will have the task to maneuver a paradrop through targets on their descent in order to collect points. Single persons and groups can challenge each other, visitors will be able to follow the virtual game and scoring on a screen or the related ParadropVR mobile app.
“[…] Our goal has always been to make the dream of flight a reality by giving our customers ‘wings’ in a safe and fun environment. Flying a performance paragliding canopy offers a unique way to experience the thrill of flying, and we’re pleased to be working with Frontgrid to offer this new attraction […],” said Simon Ward, CEO of iFLY UK.
Matt Wells, Co-Founder and CEO of Frontgrid, added, “We’re pleased to be helping the world’s largest indoor skydiving company open-up new revenue streams, and look forward to introducing ParadropVR to new audiences.”
The world’s first ParadropVR attraction is set to open this month at Denmark’s Universe Science Park (cf. EAP news from October 27th, 2017). (eap)
