UK/Saudi Arabia: SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins Awarded Lead Design Contract for Six Flags Qiddiya
Epsom, UK-based Atkins company, which is part of the Canadian SNC-Lavalin (SNC) group specialized in engineering, procurement and construction services, recently signed a three-year lead design and service consultancy contract with the Qiddiya Investment Company for the Six Flags Qiddiya thrill theme park, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2023 (cf. EAP news of 28 Aug 2020). During the next three years, Atkins will provide integrated lead design consultant, construction supervision and cost management services. The scope of work will include public realm and necessary infrastructure within the plot area along with validation of the pre-concept design, as well as the development of sustainability and environmental assessment methods, design criteria, and standards of the project.

Six Flags Qiddiya will feature six theme areas with a total of 28 themed rides and attractions (cf. EAP news of 27 Aug 2019) – its highlights will include the “Falcon’s Flight“ roller coaster, which is supposed to become the “longest, tallest and faster roller coaster in the world“, according to the planners.
