USA: “HangTime“ – New Dive Coaster to Debut at Knotts Berry Farm in 2018

Alongside Silver Dollar City, Kings Dominion, Cedar Point and California’s Great Amercia (cp. EAP news f. 17 August 2017, here and here), California-based Knotts Berry Farm has also announced a brand-new rollercoaster for the 2018 summer season. Dubbed “HangTime“, the new steel coaster, which will tower 150 feet (around 45 meters) over the park’s Boardwalk area, is said to become the only dive coaster on the US West Coast. More precisely, the new attraction is an „Infinity Coaster“ from German Gerstlauer Amusement Rides.

After climbing the lift hill, a 15-story 96 degree drop will follow. But before riders are sent down, the train will come to a halt, leaving riders suspended for several seconds staring downward at a 60-degree angle. Then the train will be released to pass through the rest of the 670-meter long track, including five inversions. At nighttime, track chase lighting that will accompany the coaster train’s travels will illuminate the area. (eap)
