USA: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Announces New “DarKoaster” Multi Launch Rollercoaster for 2023
Under the name of “DarKoaster™ – Escape the Storm”, a new Family Launch Coaster – apparently from Intamin – will open at Busch Gardens® Williamsburg in 2023. This was now announced by the amusement park in the US state of Virginia, which is part of the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Group.
In a first teaser video, the new attraction is described as an “All-New Dark Ride Experience” that will find its home in the building of the former “The Curse of DarKastle” dark ride attraction in the “Oktoberfest” themed area. Following on from the storyline of the previous attraction, guests here will embark on an exciting expedition on the cursed castle grounds of King Ludwig to discover the origins of mysterious weather phenomena that have been recorded here. After all, guests have to escape from a raging storm and a supernatural force, embarking on a ride in rollercoaster trains designed like snowmobiles. Along the nearly 750-meter (2,454 feet) track that runs through complete darkness, the “snowmobiles” reach top speeds of up to 57 km/h (36 mph).
A total of four launch sections provide thrills during this family-friendly ride on what the park says will be the world’s first indoor Straddle Coaster. Guests must be at least 48 inches (1.22 meters) tall to ride. (eap)
