USA: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Announces New Multi-Launch Coaster for 2020
Busch Gardens Williamsburg, operated by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, yesterday announced the construction of a new multi-launch coaster in its “Festa Italia” area, scheduled to open in spring 2020 under the name of “Pantheon®”. The new ride from Liechtenstein-based manufacturer Intamin, the theming of which will be based on five Roman gods, will feature four launch sections for three forward and one backward acceleration. On “Pantheon”, riders will reach a maximum speed of over 116 km/h (72.5 mph) – according to the park, it will be the fastest multi-launch coaster in North America until to date. Two trains will rush along the over one kilometer long track, which will feature further thrill elements such as a 95-degree drop and two inversions.
“Pantheon is going to be non-stop action for riders. We’ve designed it so that the experience is changing all the time and will keep riders wondering what’s next. Multiple launches, speed changes, a sharp drop and backwards acceleration are just a few of Pantheon’s one-of-a-kind traits,” explains Larry Giles, Senior Director Design & Engineering, Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
