USA: Cedar Point to Open Record Rollercoaster in 2016
As Cedar Point announced, “Valravn”, the Ohio-based amusement park’s new rollercoaster, will be the world’s tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster. Once opened in summer next year, the attraction will feature a track length of more than 3,400 feet (1,000 meters), heights of up to 223 feet (68 meters) and a top speed of 75 miles per hour (120 kilometers per hour). According to Cedar Point, Valravn will set further world records, including the most inversions (three) and the highest inversion (165 feet respectively 50 meters) as well as the longest drop (214 feet/ 65 meters) on a dive coaster.
In addition to all of these records, Valravn offers another special feature: Even before the new attraction will be open to guests, visitors have the possibility to experience the ride in 3-D virtual reality. After downloading the Cedar Point VR app onto their smartphones and inserting them into the Valravn VR Viewer that can be purchased on the park’s website, guests are able to take a VR ride on Valravn.
The new dive coaster will not only be Cedar Points 18th rollercoaster but also the 100th coaster built by the Switzerland-based rollercoaster manufacturer Bollinger & Mabillard. (eap)
