USA: Construction of Jersey Devil Coaster off to Final Construction Phase
For the 2021 season, the Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township (New Jersey) plans to open the “Jersey Devil Coaster“, which – according to the park – will be “the world's fastest, tallest and longest single-rail coaster“ (cf. EAP news f. 29 Aug 2019).
Over its social media channels the park now gave a construction update on the thrill-ride manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction. In early January, elements such as the overbanked turn, three airtime hills, the lifthill as well as the first drop with an inclination of 87 degrees were completed, forming an already large section of the 914-metre-long coaster track. As temperatures dropped, it became necessary to relocate the coaster’s track elements to prevent damage from incipient frost and ice.
On January 22th, the “topping out“ ceremony of the rail system was scheduled to be celebrated by installing the last two elements. However, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the track was completed three days later. In the next phase, construction works will focus on the train station and maintenance building as well as on installing all mechanical and electronic components for the attraction. (eap)
