USA: Disney California Adventure Park to Open New Marvel Attraction
Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim (California) recently announced the opening of a new attraction in 2017, which will immerse visitors into the world of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” characters.
The storyline, which was created by the comic book makers, the movie producers and Walt Disney Imagineering, revolves around “Tanaleer Tivan, the Collector”, a villain who has opened his unique collection of fauna, relics and species to guests for a special tour culmination with his latest prized possessions: the Guardians of the Galaxy, themselves. Fortunately, “Rocket” has a plan to free his friends and the guests in a sensational rescue effort …
The new “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!” drop tower dark ride will replace the “Twilight Zone Tower of TerrorTM”, but use the same infrastructure and ride scheme. To begin with the attraction’s theming, the free fall tower will be closed down by early January 2017. “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission BREAKOUT!” is scheduled to open in summer 2017 in due time for the release of the film’s sequel about the comic heroes.
