USA: Floor-to-Ceiling Glass Viewing Experience from “Space Needle” Observation Platform
Upgrading the guest experience, Seattle’s iconic Space Needle observation tower had already launched a virtual reality attraction earlier this year, adding a thrilling entertainment offer for visitors who come to enjoy a spectacular city view (cf. EAP news from January 5th, 2018). Now, guests can also marvel at the result of several months of construction work: The tower’s 158 meter (520 feet) high observation desk was equipped with 48 glass panels, creating a floor-to-ceiling glass viewing experience.
In the course of the renovation works, which are scheduled at a total amount of some 86 million Euros (100 million US Dollar), the structure of the 184 meter (603 feet) high observation and restaurant tower will receive a fresh coating this summer, the elevators will be updated and modernized over the next few years. “[…] We are not only renovating the structure, we are also reimagining the guest experience by removing walls, barriers – an even floors – and adding structural glass. The Space Needle has always been known as one of the best views of the Pacific Northwest. Now, it will be one of the most thrilling,” commented Karen Olson, Chief Marketing Officer, Space Needle.
