USA: In memory of Larry B. Cochran (*1940 – † 2022)
Larry B. Cochran passed away on 26 November at the age of 82. Born in 1940 and raised in Newton, Mississippi, Larry signed on in the early 1960s for a short-term drafting job at the new start-up-company called Six Flags Over Texas. This was the beginning of his then 42-year career at Six Flags. His literally cinematic career saw him rise from ride operator to CEO. Larry Cochran helped build and lead several Six Flags parks during his tenure. Since 1987, he has headed the Six Flags Corporation as President and CEO. He was also active in the IAAPA since 1984, served as president of the international industry association in 1998 and was inducted into the IAAPA Hall of Fame in 2008.
The industry mourns the loss of a kind and friendly personality, a person who enjoyed sharing his knowledge and expertise with colleagues in the industry. Larry Cochran is survived by his wife Patricia Anne Cochran, to whom he was married for 61 years, three children, their spouses and a large host of grandchildren. (eap)
