USA: LEGOLAND® California Resort Reveals Additions for 2017
LEGOLAND® California Resort, located in Carlsbad, recently announced comprehensive expansion plans for the upcoming 2017 season, including the expansion of the LEGOLAND® Water Park and an addition to LEGO® Star WarsTM Miniland.
Since the latest Star Wars movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was released in 2015 and drew millions of fans to the cinemas, it was just a matter of time until the famous characters and scenic representations would enter the Star Wars Miniland built of Lego bricks. The addition will feature six scenes representing the first 30 minutes of the movie as well as a model of the “Star Destroyer Finalizer” – a space shuttle, which with its length of nearly five meters (16 feet) will be the longest model in Star Wars Miniland. Replacing the Lego scene from the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, the new area is scheduled to open in due time for the yearly “Lego Star Wars Days” in early March 2017.
At LEGOLAND® Water Park the new kid’s area “Surfer’s Bay” is currently under construction and will feature a splash area with multiple spray pads in Lego design as well as a slide comprised of six lanes on which children can race against each other. Furthermore, the “Kingdom”-themed rooms of the resort hotel will receive a new LEGO® NinjagoTM design to create a new experience for overnight guests. A new themed hotel, the LEGO® Castle Hotel, is scheduled to open in 2018 and will be comprised of 250 rooms, a restaurant and a pool area. (eap)
