USA: Michael Froman Joins Board of Directors of The Walt Disney Company
The Walt Disney Company has recently welcomed Michael Froman, Vice Chairman & President of Strategic Growth at Mastercard Inc., as a new member to its Board of Directors. Froman – who served as a US Trade Representative from 2013 to 2017, negotiating major international trade partnerships and investment opportunities on behalf of the United States – held the role as deputy national security advisor for international economic affairs under former US President Barack Obama, to whom he was assistant. Furthermore, he worked in different leadership positions, including an engagement at New York City-based financial services provider Citigroup. In April this year, Froman took over his current position at Mastercard, with the responsibility to build and expand strategic partnerships and cooperations with governments, NGOs and other institutions. He currently serves as a Distinguished Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations.
“Given his broad experience and extraordinary career spanning both the public and private sectors, Mike brings a unique perspective that will be extremely valuable as we continue to build the future of Disney. In particular, his keen insights into finance, international trade, and government partnerships make him a great fit for our Board during this dynamic era of innovation and global growth,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company.
Froman added, “The Walt Disney Company is an iconic brand that has the power to inspire generation after generation. I am honored to join the Board and share my experiences and insights to help this great company explore new opportunities around the world.” (eap)
