USA: Sally and Daniels Wood Land Team Up on New Dark Ride for Monterey Bay
“Treasure Hunt: The Ride” is the name of a new attraction that will in future invite visitors to a new dark ride experience on the famous waterfront street Cannery Row in Monterey Bay, California. It is a joint project of the two US firms of Sally Dark Rides and Daniels Wood Land, which are realizing a dark ride there with a pirate theme. Handcrafted set pieces, animatronics and special effects are expected to provide a seamless integration of the screens into the interactive media experience.
The attraction, including maintenance and queuing areas, will occupy a total area of approx. 757 square meters and include six ride zones. Up to four guests can be seated per vehicle of the track-bound ride. According to the storyline, visitors will embark on a journey into an underground tunnel system, sitting in a “Cavern Car” and equipped with a “Treasure Collector” to search for treasures while fending off dangers – sea monsters, skeletons, etc.
“We have always been impressed with the scenic style and capabilities of the incredible artists and craftsmen from Daniels Wood Land. To work with them to create a one-of-a-kind pirate adventure in Monterey is something we were excited about from the moment we heard about the opportunity,” says John Wood, CEO of Sally Dark Rides. Ron Daniels, President of Daniels Wood Land, comments, “[…] It’s literally a dream coming true by the sweat of our brows, and it’s an honor and a privilege to partner with Sally Dark Rides and make it happen!” This is the first time Sally and Daniels Wood Land have partnered on both ownership and production of an attraction. Treasure Hunt is scheduled to open next year.
