USA: The Walt Disney Company Extends Bob Iger’s Contract as Chairman and CEO
Yesterday, the Walt Disney Company officially announced the extension of Robert “Bob” Iger’s contract as the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer to July 2nd, 2019 – Iger (66), who previously had planned to retire in 2018, took this decision in order to ensure a smooth transition to his successor. Since Thomas Staggs, Disney’s former COO and potential successor to Iger, had surprisingly left the company last year (c.f. EAP news from April 5th, 2016), Bob Iger will now work together with the Board to identify a new successor to his position.
“Leading this great company is a tremendous privilege, and I am honored to have been asked to continue serving as CEO through July 2nd, 2019. Even with the incredible success the company has achieved, I am confident that Disney’s best days are still ahead […],” he said. (eap)
