USA: Triotech to Deliver New, Interactive 4D Ride for Knott’s Berry Farm’s 100th Anniversary

As announced yesterday on the first day of IAAPA Expo 2019 in Orlando, Triotech, the Canadian supplier of multi-media attractions, will create a new interactive 4D dark ride for California’s Knott’s Berry Farm theme park, celebrating the park’s 100th anniversary in 2020. Named “Knott’s Bear-y Tales®: Return to the Fair“, the attraction will bring back to life an “old classic” of the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company park. In this project Triotech is responsible for the design, the scenic theming, animation production and the interactive gaming system.

“The return of Knott’s Bear-y Tales is perfect for the 100th anniversary because it brings back one of the park’s most nostalgic and beloved attractions in an innovative 4-D dark ride format that will delight an entirely new generation of fans,” said Jon Storbeck, Vice President & General Manager of Knott’s Berry Farm.

In terms of theme, the new attraction refers back to the theme ride “Knott’s Bear-y Tales”, originally opened in 1975 and closed in 1986. Guests will find well-known locations such as Boysenberry Pie Factory, Frog Forest, Fortune Teller Camp, Thunder Cave and Weird Woods as well as encounter characters such as Boysen Bear and Girlsen Bear. On board the interactive vehicles, passengers will be equipped with so-called jelly blasters to retrieve the stolen Boysenberry pies and collect as many points as possible. Knott’s Bear-y Tales will replace the “Voyage to the Iron Reef” attraction of the same supplier opened in 2015 (cf. EAP 1/2015). (eap)
