USA: Two New Slides Offer Thrilling Racing Fun at Splish Splash Waterpark

Located in Calverton/NY, the Splish Splash waterpark, which is operated by PalaceEntertainment (part of Parques Reunidos), has opened two new slides for thrilling racing fun this past weekend: “Riptide Racer” is the name of the new mat racer slide, on which up to four waterpark guests can race against each other on mats down to the finish line. In order to achieve maximum speeds, the enclosed flumes feature an aerodynamical design.

No less adrenaline is promised by the second novelty named “Bombs Away”: an aqua-launch dueling slide starting at over 15 meters (50 feet) from a tower. Launched by a trapping door, sliders charge down the two approx. 91 meter (300 feet) long slide flumes, both featuring a flat line loop as another highlight. On this attraction, racers reach a speed of around 7.9 meters per second (26 feet per second).

The new slides expand the existing visitor offer of the just under 39 hectares (96 acres) large waterpark. Its attractions‘ line-up comprises 20 slides, two wave pools, a large kiddie area, a lazy river as well as versatile food and entertainment offerings. (eap)
