USA: Universal Orlando Resort Announces Opening Date for „Volcano Bay“
As Universal Orlando Resort already announced last year, its third venue will be the all-new “Volcano Bay” waterpark already under construction and adjacent to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort (cf. EAP news from June 4th, 2015). Last week Universal Orlando Resort revealed more details on the new park’s attractions and announced the opening date scheduled for June 1st, 2017.
“Volcano Bay” will be an innovative waterpark featuring 18 attractions, which will be located in four imaginatively themed areas. “Krakatau” will be the heart of the park and will host the equally named 200 feet (approx. 61 meter) high volcano as well as a state-of-the-art marquee attraction, on which Universal Orlando Resort has not disclosed further information yet. Located at the base of “Krakatau”, guests can visit “Wave Village” with its attractions “Waturi Beach” – a sparkling, multi-directional wave pool and a beach to relax – and “The Reef” – an adjacent leisure pool with calmer waters. The third themed area will be “River Village”, where kids encounter a three-story water playground and a toddler play area with spraying Maori fountains – among other attractions. For adrenalin junkies “Rainforest Village” will provide an area featuring North Americas first “saucer ride”, on which multi-passenger rafts speed around three saucer-shaped curves. Additionally, “Volcano Bay” will redefine the queue experiences so guests can focus entirely on having fun and spending time together.
The waterpark’s concept has been developed by Universal Creative. (eap)
