USA: WWA Show in Las Vegas: Official Award Ceremony for this Year’s Leading Edge Award Winners
From October 23rd to 26th this year, the international water park industry came together in Las Vegas/Nevada to attend the 38th edition of the annual WWA Show Symposium & Trade Show organized by the World Waterpark Association. Around 1,600 participants were welcomed to the event, including the owners and operators of small- and large-scale water parks, designers, manufacturers and planners. During the two-day-WWA Trade Show more than 225 companies presented their new products on a total exhibition space of almost 9,300 square metres (100,000 square feet).
In addition to a versatile lecture program, workshops and special networking events, the WWA Show once again provided the setting for the annual presentation of the "Leading Edge Awards ", presented by WWA to operators and manufacturers for innovative concepts and new technological developments in various categories. This year's award-winning projects include the Aquaventure Waterpark (Atlantis Resort Sanya) on the Chinese island of Hainan as well as the following manufacturers who were involved in this waterpark project: Empex Watertoys (Canada), Murphys Waves (Scotland), ProSlide Technology (Canada), Rolba Loisir (Spain) and Van Stone Conveyor (USA).
Two further Leading Edge Awards were presented to Chimelong Water Park in Guangzhou (China) and German slide manufacturer Wiegand Maelzer for the first installation of a “SlideWheel” earlier this year (see EAP, 4/18). Last but not least, the new Epic Waters indoor water park in Texas, which was opened at the beginning of this year (see EAP 3/18), was also honoured with a Leading Edge Award, as were the participating manufacturers OpenAire (USA) and WhiteWater West (Canada).
The next WWA Show will take place from October 7th-10th, 2019 at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando/Florida. (eap)
