USA: With French Pavilion Expansion "Ratatouille" Opens at EPCOT
Today’s opening of the French Pavilion expansion at EPCOT World Showcase marks the beginning of 18 months of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” in honor of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary and a milestone in EPCOT’s multi-year transformation. The new attraction “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” is now open to visitors.
The family-friendly 3D attraction, which has been delighting visitors to Disneyland Paris since 2014, shrinks guests to the size of a rat, allowing them to join Remy from the Disney/Pixar film “Ratatouille” in his culinary creation at Gusteau’s restaurant. Designed as colorful rats, the trackless vehicles are travelling through the attraction in groups of three and can move forward and backward, spin, tilt and bounce. Because of the slightly different routing of each vehicle, guests can discover new details on a revisit while listening to the characters, who speak a mix of English and French. The 3D animated scenes, based on various sequences from the film, blend with the oversized sets and, along with sounds, smells and other effects, provide an immersive experience.
As part of the expansion, which more than doubles the size of the French Pavilion, the culinary offerings are also expanded with "La Crêperie de Paris", which invites visitors to both dine in and take away food. (eap)
