USA/GB: First “Peppa Pig World of Play“ in the US Now Open
After the launch of the world’s first “Peppa Pig World of Play” indoor FEC – a new “midway attraction” from British Merlin Entertainments (Merlin) operating group – in Shanghai/China in October last year (read more about the attraction in our upcoming March/April issue), the Peppa Pig indoor park concept has now also entered the US market. The first Peppa Pig World of Play in the US was recently opened in Dallas-Fort Worth/Texas, forming part of the Grapevine Mills mall.
On some 1,300 square meters (14,000 square feet), pre-school kids and their families can enjoy a colorful Peppa Pig world with a number of educational play stations. Also, there are several Peppa Pig-themed rooms for birthday celebrations, a movie theater as well as facilities for families to relax. In addition to the new indoor FEC, Merlin operates a LEGOLAND Discovery Center and a SEA LIFE visitor aquarium in Grapevine Mills.
Further Peppa Pig FECs from Merlin in the US will open in the greater New York City area and Michigan (with the opening of the latter foreseen for later this year) as well as in Beijing/China. The US and China are key markets for the Peppa Pig brand, since broadcast lincenses with CCTV and Nickelodeon as well as “video on demand” platforms are supporting the brand’s exposure. In Europe, Peppa Pig can currently be found in specially-designed theme areas at the Merlin-related theme parks Gardaland/Italy and Heide Park Resort/Germany (cf. EAP 4/18). (eap)
