USA/Italy: The Vikings are Coming! Adventureland Iowa Announces Two New Rides for 2023
The Adventureland Resort in Altoona, Iowa, which was taken over by the operating group Palace Entertainment (the American subsidiary of Parques Reunidos) at the end of last year (c.f. EAP News of 22 Dec 2021), has announced two new Viking-themed rides scheduled to debut in the 2023 season.
Visitors can look forward to the new “Flying Viking” family coaster and the “Draken Falls” log flume ride – both attractions will be supplied by the Italian manufacturer Zamperla. A special feature of the two novelties designed for the family audience will be their interwoven layout: The more than 365-metre-long track of the roller coaster will run directly above, below as well as next to the flume ride, allowing the park to achieve a high capacity on a relatively small footprint. Zamperla calls the concept of combining a flat ride with a coaster “Integrated Rides”. In Adventureland, the two attractions together will reach a capacity of more than 2,000 people per hour. (eap)
