VDFU Receives Award at the 19th German Associations Congress
(eap) The VDFU (German Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions) received an award in the “Member Orientation” category at yesterday’s awards ceremony of the “19th German Associations Congress” in Wuppertal. “Appreciation for our committed, member-oriented association work – an absolute respectable success for the VDFU,” commented VDFU Managing Director Jürgen Gevers on receiving the award. The VDFU came second in the member orientation category out of numerous candidates. The jury particularly highlighted the “Die Faire Sieben” (Engl.: The Fair Seven) campaign, with which the VDFU and its member companies are drawing the attention of the German government to the disadvantage of amusement parks in Germany under VAT law. The association is calling for the reduced VAT rate of seven percent to be applied to admission fees at amusement parks.
“We have shown that even smaller associations can achieve great things – thanks to the commitment of our member companies,” says Gevers. “Being honoured by the jury is a special recognition of the work that is done in our leisure and attraction facilities. Collegiality, willingness to cooperate and passion for our industry have made it possible to position the VDFU alongside the heavyweights of the association world. We would like to express our sincere thanks for this on behalf of the Executive Board and the office.”
The German Associations Congress is a central meeting for managers of associations, interest groups and similar organizations. The event is organized every two years by the DGVM (Engl.: German Society for Association Management). ■
