Valhalla Reopens at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
(eap) Starting today, visitors to UK’s Blackpool Pleasure Beach amusement park can again take their rides on the popular “Valhalla” water dark ride, which had been closed for a comprehensive makeover since 2019. In collaboration with manufacturer Intamin, who supplied the attraction to the park back in 2000, the splashy indoor ride has been overhauled and partially redesigned, retaining Valhalla’s original character but adding new surprising effects to it, for example. Passengers can look forward to more than four minutes of high-speed action, during which they will also be surrounded by fire, water, snow, thunder and lightning. Temperatures as low as minus 20 and as high as plus 43 degrees Celsius will be generated while the passengers sitting in their longboat are immersed in their role as Vikings on their adventurous journey to Valhalla. And, in keeping with the Valhalla motto: “You will get wet, you may get soaked”, it will get splashy, of course…
“We’re delighted to finally be able to share a glimpse into all our hard work. The new ride is absolutely sensational and will definitely leave riders wanting more. Those who remember the original ride may recognize some of its best-loved features, but this reimagining of Valhalla offers a totally new immersive experience that will leave riders eager to return,” said Amanda Thompson OBE, CEO of Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Adam Selvin, Director of Creative, Design & Experience, added, “We’ve worked so hard to find the perfect balance between maintaining nostalgia, giving the ride some much-needed TLC and adding in a few surprises for fans. Valhalla will test even the most confident rollercoaster rider’s limits, with plummeting temperatures, fiery furnaces and torrents of water.
