Wales: Surf Park “Surf Snowdonia” Open to Guests
At the beginning of this month, the sports complex Surf Snowdonia in Dolgarrog, in the Conwy Valley, North Wales was opened. The surf park’s central attraction is a 300 meter long and 110 meter wide lagoon which can be used by 52 surfers at the same time. In the lagoon, beginner, intermediate and advanced waves at 0.7 meters, 1.2 meters and 2 meters can be generated simultaneously, offering an appropriate surfing experience for everyone. Every minute, one wave is triggered by the push of a button. Surfers are instructed by a team of surf coaches from all over the world, led by Welch surf champion Jo Dennison. Apart from the surfing adventure, the park offers its visitors a fun activity pool, an indoor soft-play facility, retail space as well as a café and restaurant. There are also onsite accommodation possibilities in the form of wooden camping pods, providing space for 144 people. Surf Snowdonia expects to attract around 75,000 visitors every year. (eap)
