A few weeks ago, at the end of August, the Mori Building Digital Art Museum: teamLab Borderless (we reported in EAP 1/2020), which opened in Tokyo in 2018, closed its doors to be relocated to a new site within the Japanese capital. While the interactive art museum was previously located in the high-tech and entertainment district of Odaiba, it will move to central Tokyo as part of the Toranomon-Azabudai project to be completed in 2023. The latter is a complex under construction consisting of three skyscrapers that, once completed, will include the tallest building in Tokyo and Japan. In the new museum, the teamLab art collective will unveil works that further explore the concept of “wander, explore, discover in one borderless world.”

In its opening year, the museum welcomed some 2.3 million visitors from more than 160 countries and regions. In 2019, teamLab Borderless Shanghai, another such museum, opened in the Chinese metropolis. Upcoming new openings are planned for Hamburg and Jeddah (Saudi-Arabia). (eap)
