USA: Sesame Place San Diego on Its Way to Opening – Attractions Almost Completed
In March 2022 the second Sesame Place theme park is scheduled to open in San Diego and it already promises to become a joyful Sesame Street party. The operating group SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, who has been the exclusive theme park partner of the Sesame Street® brand’s nonprofit organisation Sesame Workshop in the USA since 1980, now announced the attractions near their completion.
The family-friendly attraction and ride offerings will include the two carousels “Elmo’s Rockin‘ Rockets“ and “Sunny Day Carousel“, the “Cookie Climb“ interactive tower, the “Abby’s Fairy Flight“ swing ride, the interactive music experience “Rosita’s Harmony Hills“, the “Rub-A-Dub Sub“ ride , the “Sesame Street Soar & Spin“ balloon ride as well as the “Super Grover’s Box Car Derby“ family coaster by Zierer. Additionally, guest will be able to meet their beloved Sesame Street characters at the “123 Stoop“ live or digitally. Not to be missed are daily parades and themed photo points throughout the park. Following the example of the “mother park“ in Philadelphia, a waterpark including eleven water attractions will be developed as well and is scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend (30 May 2022).
“We’re thrilled with the progress of the much-anticipated Sesame Place San Diego, where families will experience a unique and powerful way to engage with their favorite characters and brand. Those deep connections drive everything we do at Sesame Workshop and help deliver educational benefits to children around the world,” said Steve Youngwood, CEO of Sesame Workshop. “San Diego is a premiere tourist destination and Sesame Place is the perfect place for families looking to learn and play on the West Coast. We’re excited that our Sesame Street friends are coming to San Diego and are eager to give locals a fun new experience, as well as provide tourists another great reason to visit San Diego,” commented Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.
