France: Compagnie des Alpes Announces Disposal of Fort Fun
Yesterday the French Compagnie des Alpes (CdA) group announced the disposal of Germany’s Fort Fun Abenteuerland theme park situated in the Sauerland region to Looping Group. The transaction is subject to the prior approval of the German competition authorities. The transaction values the business at seven million Euros and will be settled in cash. According to CdA’s statement, Fort Fun generated revenues of 5.9 million Euros in the 2015/2016 fiscal year, a gross operating profit of approx. 1.5 percent of the buisness unit „leisure destinations“ and generated more than 265,000 visitors.
Including Fort Fun, CdA has already transferred a total of ten parks to France’s Looping Group since 2011. In 2014, CdA sold its remaining 30 percent stake in the Looping Group (cp. EAP news from 06 May 14).
Looping Group, which has been part of Belgium’s investment company Ergon Capital Partners since 2016 (cp. EAP news from 30 Mar 16), now operates a total of twelve leisure parks in Europe. With this disposal, CdA follows its strategy “to refocus the scope of the group’s sites on those with the ability to boost their reputation from regional to national, if not international, and able to reach very high customer satisfaction“.
