Adventure City Tour
15 years ago, the US American Dean Kamen launched the first Segway. About five years later, the electrically driven two-wheeler became internationally known and has been used in a variety of ways since then (cf. EAP, issue 1/2006). Segway tours are not only offered in amusement and holiday parks but also in city centers, where guided tours have enjoyed great popularity in recent years.
A German provider of guided Segway tours is SEG TOUR GmbH, headquartered in Munich. Since 2008, tourists and locals have the possibility to use the company's offer in the German cities of Munich, Augsburg, Dresden, Stuttgart, Regensburg and Cologne. At the beginning of March, the company opened up its seventh location in the Berlin-Mitte district. Like in the other cities, SEG TOUR as of now also offers three-hour tours including 20 stops in the German capital. The riders can choose between three different routes, each of which is twelve kilometers long. Before the tour begins, a tour guide introduces the guests to their vehicles. Until now, the SEG TOUR offer has been very well received – last year, more than 18,000 guests participated in the Segway tours organized by the company. (eap)
