Adventure Land Auctions Log Ride Boat for Charity Purpose
(eap) The Altoona, Iowa-based Adventureland Resort is auctioning off for charity one of the last boats from its former log water ride, which was operating at the park from 1974 through 2015 and kept visitors cool on hot days. That purpose is now being fulfilled by the recently opened log flume “Draken Falls”, supplied by Zamperla. The proceeds from the auctioned log ride boat will go to the Give Kids the World (GKTW) non-profit organization, which runs a resort of the same name in Kissimmee (Florida), where families with seriously ill children are given a break.
“By participating in this auction, not only will fans have a chance to own a cherished piece of Adventureland’s history, but they will also be contributing to Give Kids the World Village, which has helped thousands of families here in Iowa and across the country,” said Mike Lusky, Adventureland’s General Manager.
In addition to the auction, the “Coasting for Kids” event (Web-News v. 06.09.21) will be held at Adventureland Resort for the first time on August 19. Companies or individuals can register for the charity event and support it with a personal fundraising page. In return, participants get to spend a day at a cooperating theme park before the park’s official opening time, allowing them to ride selected attractions exclusively. In addition to Adventureland Resort, twelve other U.S. theme parks are among the partners this year. ■
