Austria: 007 ELEMENTS – New James Bond Experience World Opened in Tyrol
007 ELEMENTS is the name of the new James Bond experience world, which recently opened in Sölden, in the Austrian Ötztal valley: Situated at 3,048 metres above sea level and built into the Gaislachkogl mountain, the new destination extends over 1,300 square meters featuring a total of nine halls and chambers. Visitors enter the building complex through a tunnel designed as a “barrel of the gun” reminiscent of the opening sequence of the 24th James Bond film “Spectre”, which was released in 2015 and partly shot in Sölden. The tunnel leads to a plaza from which guests can enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding areas before entering a lobby. In the lobby, film director Sam Mendes welcomes visitors from a screen. Then, guests proceed to a mirror cabinet with sequences of all Bond actors and a visual 360-degree experience. During a next passage, 007 ELEMENTS opens up again to the surrounding mountain world – thanks to large window fronts, the tour offers a view of the imposing glacier road that served as a backdrop for a chase in the Spectre film.
Next, visitors enter the "Tech Lab", where various film props are on display. Interaction platforms offer a deep insight into computer-generated tricks and special effects. In addition to other highlights for James Bond fans, the tour ends in the "Legacy Hall", where selected "behind the scenes" sequences and iconographic film posters from the series are showcased. A shop and a restaurant ("ice-Q-Restaurant") complete the offer.
The architectural design of the new Bond experience world, which is characterised by concrete, glass and steel constructions, was delivered by Tyrolean architect Johann Obermoser. James Bond film set designer Neil Callow was responsible for the realisation of the artistic vision. Austrian company AV Stumpfl has installed several screens in the experience world, the technological solutions come from Kraftwerk Living Technologies. The new James Bond experience world is a partnership between EON Productions, Metro Goldwyn Mayer and Bergbahnen Sölden. (eap)
