Austria: Andreas Ramsauer Takes over as Managing Director of Silvretta Therme in Ischgl
In May 2022, Andreas Ramsauer took over the management of the newly emerging Silvretta Therme in Ischgl, a tourist hotspot in Austria. The tourism graduate and management consultant, who first toured Europe as a successful tour manager of small and large bands and productions after his graduation, also has several years of experience in leading positions in the areas of gastronomy, marketing and sales of an Austrian mountain cableways group. However, Andreas Ramsauer became known in the leisure and waterpark industry primarily as the managing director of the Wave Wörgl Water World, which he creatively and successfully developed into a popular tourist magnet with more than 250,000 guests p.a. during his 18 years tenure. Ramsauer, who has also been involved in the European Waterpark Association (EWA) on a voluntary basis for many years, is taking over the management of the Silvretta Therme, a company of Silvrettaseilbahn AG – Austria‘s top-selling cable car company –, and thus a new task that seems to be tailor-made for the experienced spa professional.
The facility, which is still under construction (investment volume of more than 70 million euros), is to be developed as a driving force for the seasonal revival of Ischgl, which has so far been known more as a winter sports region. “Up to now, the added value here has been generated mainly in winter, while summer and autumn are rather tranquil,“ Andreas Ramsauer explains the current situation. And he knows very well “that Ischgl is not necessarily a children‘s or family destination, which is why the spa‘s offer is deliberately positioned in the high-quality segment for adults seeking relaxation. And the expectations of guests and locals in terms of quality and customer service are already very high,“ says Ramsauer. Completion of the Silvretta Therme is scheduled for autumn 2022, so that operations can start in time for the 2022 winter season. (eap)
