Camelbeach Mountain Water Park, PA, Opens Rival Racer

(eap) Camelbeach Mountain Water Park is part of the Camelback Resort in Tannersville (Pennsylvania) and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The largest outdoor water park in the Pocono Mountains recently opened the new “Rival Racer” slide, a colorful RallyRACER from ProSlide, just in time for the start of the summer season. The new attraction was built on the site of the former “Checkered Flag Challenge” slide, which was a ProRACER – also a mat slide from ProSlide, but with a completely open design – that was launched in 2004.

The new slide features eight lanes and is used head first on a mat. Guests start from a standing position and first slide belly first side-by-side through an open, shared section (RallyPOINT) before entering tubes that are separated from each other. A circular element is followed by another open section and finally an S-curve, which is followed by the final drop. Eventually, the guests come to stop in a long, flat landing pool in a racing flag design. Sliding is allowed from a height of 42 inches (approx. 1.07 meters).

Thanks to the technical equipment Rival Racer animates exciting races: The installation is equipped with starting lights with a visual countdown and also a timing system. These components were implemented by the Dutch company iSlide. The same company was responsible for the conversion of the “Mountain Mayhem” slide at the Aquatopia indoor water park, which is also part of the resort: there, the existing slide was upgraded with interactive light, sound and water effects. ■
