Canada: Cirque du Soleil Gradually Resumes Show Operations

A ray of hope from the entertainment industry – the Canadian circus and entertainment company Cirque du Soleil announced last week that it will soon be able to resume operations of four of its international shows after a break of more than a year due to the pandemic. The two Las Vegas-based shows “O” (at Bellagio) and “Mystère” (at Treasure Island) will kick off the comeback for visitors as of this summer. The touring show “KOOZA” is scheduled to be performed in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic starting in November this year. Cirque du Soleil fans in Europe will have to wait until 2022, when the acrobatic show “LUZIA” will be available for guests again at London’s Royal Albert Hall as of January of that year. The Blue Man Group, which has been part of Cirque du Soleil for some years now (cp. EAP news of 19 July 2017), will be back in operation at the theater of the Luxor casino hotel in Las Vegas as of this coming summer, too.

With the beginning of the pandemic last year, the Cirque du Soleil company had to cancel its entire show program and alternatively offered exclusive entertainment content through its newly created “CirqueConnect” platform, including, for example, weekly “60-minute specials” featuring footage of various Cirque du Soleil shows edited together (cp.
