Canada: Geoff Chutter Recognized As EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 Pacific
Annually, one of the world’s largest consulting firms, Ernst&Young, awards the best entrepreneurs. The awards are given to entrepreneurs in more than 60 countries worldwide and in multiple categories so that there is more than one winner. On 3 October Geoff Chutter, president and CEO of WhiteWater West from Canada, was recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 Pacific“.
“Thank you to my grandfather for exposing me to entrepreneurship, my parents for introducing me to globalization, and my colleagues for finding the right people. What we do is make families happy, and that makes us happy,“ said Chutter during the awards ceremony. He established the Canadian firm WhiteWater in 1980 and managed the company to become one of the most successful slide manufacturers in the world. The company operates international offices in Shanghai, Barcelona and Dubai.
Lui Petrollini, EY Entrepreneur of the Year Pacific Programm Manager, comments: “When an economic downturn comes knocking, consumer discretionary spending is typically the first to go. But Geoff didn’t let this stop him in the early 2000s. Instead, he turned it into an opportunity and has made WhiteWater a force to reckoned with ever since.“ Besides the main category Chutter also won the “Business to Business“ category. (eap)
