(eap) The French Compagnie des Alpes (CdA) has announced the takeover of the BELANTIS theme park near Leipzig from the Spanish Parques Reunidos group by acquiring the entire capital of Event Park GmbH, the company that owns and operates the park. BELANTIS is now part of CdA’s theme park division, which comprises 13 theme parks across Europe.

Opened in 2003, the amusement park near Leipzig today counts a total of 27 attractions in nine themed areas and is aimed particularly at families. The destination recently recorded around 300,000 visitors per year and generated revenue of around eleven million euros in the 2024 financial year. Due to the strategically favourable catchment area and the total site area of over 80 hectares, of which 41 hectares are available for future development, Compagnie des Alpes estimates that the park could receive almost 900,000 visitors per year in the long term – the German market for theme parks is the second largest in Europe after the French market and therefore offers great potential.

CdA General Director Dominique Thillaud comments: “The acquisition of Belantis was a very good opportunity for our group. This site has real advantages which, combined with the group’s expertise – be it in terms of operational excellence, marketing or visitor satisfaction – make us very confident about the future development and performance potential of this park.”

François Fassier, Director of CdA’s Theme Parks division, added: ‘We are delighted that Belantis is now part of our portfolio and look forward to working with the local teams to open a new chapter in the site’s history.”
