Danse Macabre Topped off – Opening Scheduled for Fall this Year
(eap) A special milestone in the construction of the new Efteling attraction “Danse Macabre”: this morning, the highest point of the 20 metre high tower building of the future new ride was reached when the four metre high spire was placed on the roof. Koen Sanders, Director Product, Market & Brand at Efteling, gave the official signal to raise and place the spire. “We are really investing in the future, and the highest point of Danse Macabre symbolises this beautifully. In line with our vision, we are building a completely new themed world around the attraction. Inspired by the iconic Spookslot, we are giving Efteling an eerie spectacle full of dark twists and turns in a new dimension. Danse Macabre’s spectacular ride system is also unique and has never been built anywhere else in the world. I am very proud of the whole project and look forward to the opening in fall this year,” said Sanders.
Efteling designer Jeroen Verheij added with anticipation: “It’s great to see my designs come to life. With great attention to detail, inspired colleagues are working every day to realise this special attraction and the themed area that goes with it. Today is literally a high point for Danse Macabre. Autumn 2024 is slowly approaching and I can’t wait to experience the scariest area in Efteling.”
Danse Macabre is being built in a new themed area covering around 17,000 square metres. The attraction, which is being built by Intamin Amusement Rides, has a large turntable on which six smaller turntables are installed. There are six choir benches on these, offering space for a total of 108 visitors. The large turntable rises, tilts and falls, spins like a coin and lowers again. This fall, the unique ride is set to celebrate its premiere in Efteling. Another highlight attraction at the Dutch theme park, which welcomed around 5.5 million guests last season, setting a new record.
