Denmark: Fårup Sommerland Opens New Thrill Ride in 2017
Visitors to Fårup Sommerland leisure park located in the Danish region of North Jutland can already look forward to the new “Whirlwind” (Da.: “Hvirvelvinden”) thrill ride, which is expected to open in May 2017. The new attraction is a pendulum ride from the Italian supplier Zamperla. It stands on four legs and has a pendulum swinging back and forth to a maximum height of 19 meters (at an angle of 115 degrees). In addition, the pendulum, which has room for 24 persons sitting in a circle, rotates around its own axis, causing a total centrifugal power of 3.8g.
“Looking at our other amusements and activities, we have a really good range of offer for children and families alike, but our wish is also to hang on to the young people. That is why we have to focus on developing amusements that appeal to this group. Of course, it’s also about our park aspiring to be innovative, keeping up with the times and constantly coming up with something new,” commented Søren Kragelund, Director of Fårup Sommerland. Together with the “Lynet” rollercoaster, “Whirlwind” will make up part of the park’s rides that look to attract the “particularly courageous” visitors. (eap)
