Deutschlandmuseum Ranks Second in German Tourism Award Voting
(eap) The German Tourism Association has announced the winners of the “German Tourism Award 2024”. The interactive history experience Deutschlandmuseum in Berlin, which opened last summer not far from Potsdamer Platz (see EAP 6/2023), ranks second place. The Deutschlandmuseum, which brings around 2,000 years of German history to life in an interactive way, inspires both tourists and Berlin citizens. “We are proud that our work and our unique concept not only appeal to our visitors, but also to renowned award committees,” explains Robert Rückel, Director of Deutschlandmuseum. “These awards are an incentive for us to continue to offer the highest standards in the presentation of history.” Deutschlandmuseum has already been recognised for its innovative exhibition concept with various awards in the past. For example, the museum received a “World Travel Award” as well as a “Thea Award”.
The first place of the German Tourism Award went to the Schleswig-Holstein Local Transport Association, which was honoured for its “Urlaub. Ganz ohne eigenes Auto” (Engl.: Holiday. Without your own car) project. Third prize went to the Hotel Louise in Erlangen, which was awarded for the project “Eco statt Ego – Mit der Wall of Change Wissen teilen und gemeinsam die Welt verändern” (Engl.: Eco instead of Ego – Sharing knowledge and changing the world together with the Wall of Change). The winners were selected from a total of 64 applicants by a jury according to the criteria of “degree of innovation, social sustainability and quality, economic sustainability and economic effects as well as ecological sustainability”. ■
