Disney Destiny: Travelling with Heroes & Villains as of Late 2025

(eap) Disney Cruise Lines has announced details of its forthcoming new ship “Disney Destiny”, which is due to set sail for the first time from the cruise port of Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) in late 2025. The new ocean liner, which is part of a current fleet expansion by Disney Cruise Lines (as part of which Disney will also bring its cruise travel business to Japan, see EAP news from 9 July 2024), will be themed around the heroes and villains of popular Disney, Marvel and Pixar productions. With a total size of around 144,000 gross tonnes and various cabin categories specially designed for families, as a floating holiday destination Disney Destiny will offer one thing in particular: Entertainment for guests of all ages.

For example, there will be a spacious area dedicated to Mickey Mouse and friends with a total of seven pools and the Disney Cruise Line signature water ride “AquaMouse”. The youngest ship guests will be able to have fun in a water play landscape set to “Toy Story” (Pixar). Disney Destiny promises to offer character encounters and immersive experiences in “Disney’s Oceaneer Club”, aimed at children aged three to ten. Separate areas – “Edge” and “Vibe” – are also planned for young travelers, with exciting games and group activities to choose from. The “Walt Disney Theatre” is announced as an “opulent show palace”, where Broadway-inspired stage shows – e.g. “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” – will be on the program.

In the gastronomic field, future passengers on the new Disney ship can look forward to options such as the musical show restaurant “Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King” or the elegantly styled “1923” with Hollywood glamour and Marvel characters. “De Vil’s Piano Lounge”, named after the character Cruella de Vil from “One Hundred and One Dalmatians”, will serve classic cocktails for adult travelers in a chic ambience, while the cosy “Cask and Cannon” pub will exude rustic charm à la “Pirates of the Caribbean”.

Sharon Siskie, SVP and General Manager of Disney Cruise Line, comments: “For the Disney Destiny, we will introduce brand-new cruise experiences inspired by the legends and legacies of some of Disney’s most iconic heroes and villains. From the dining rooms to the staterooms and everywhere in between, guests aboard our new ship will be surrounded by extraordinary storytelling paired with the signature service and family-fun adventures that are hallmarks of a Disney Cruise vacation.” ■
