England: Thorpe Park Publishes Details about New Major Attraction
A few months ago, England’s Thorpe Park announced its plans for the opening of a new major attraction this year. Now the amusement park has published more details with regard to the new ride, which the park developed in cooperation with the British illusionist Derren Brown.
“Derren Brown’s Ghost Train” will take visitors on a ten to 15 minute train journey that combines live action sequences, 4-D special effects, grand-scale illusions and the latest in technology. The adventure takes place in a 20 meter long, four and a half meter tall Victorian train carriage that is suspended in mid air three meters above the ground. Mounted to iron chains, the carriage is located in a 2,306 square meter warehouse. There will be twelve possible journeys with two different endings. In this way, an individual ride experience is created for the passengers. The park promises its guests to play a major role in a unique and stunning adventure. And Derren Brown is convinced of the attraction as he said: “I firmly believe that this kind of multi-sensory, mind blowing attraction represents a glimpse of what the future holds for theme parks the world over.”
Apart from Derren Brown, more than 1,000 specialists were involved in the ride’s development during the last three years. Thorpe Park states that “Derren Brown’s Ghost Train” is the most expensive attraction in the park’s history. The opening is scheduled for May. (eap)
